Boat trip Thursday 9th April

Well not to much to report today fishing wise, a different guide today Ian, he picked us up on the docat 7am, today we were going livebaiting outside the reef after big king fish or king mackerel, the sea was looking rough on the horizon but the weather forcast gave it dieing down so off we went towards the reef.

It was rough on the way out as well so it took a lot longer than normal to get out there, we got the livebaits as soon as we got to a little island on the reef, the pelicans were diving into the bait and there were baracuda and jacks chasing them from under water, 2 throws with the cast net and the live well was full, most were a bit small thats why it took 2 throws, then they were rigged up and ready to go.

it was quite slow today and very rough outside the reef, I dont think you would of got a boat from whitby to go near it (after we had a trip cancelled after we traveled all the way accross country and the sea looked about a force 4 no more) this was rough spray coming over even at trolling speed, to cut a long story short I had 4 baracuda and Billy had 3 we both missed a few on the livebaits but nothing at all on the lures, we only tried that on the way back in and it was getting rougher by the minute.

By the time we got back to land we both looked as if we had spent the day swimming in our clothes, even my fingers are still wrinkled now writing this !

We are not out tomorrow but the weather is supposed to calm down overnight and go back to hot sunny days, will report back next time we have done some fishing.
