2nd boat trip Monday 6th April

George met us on the daoc again at 6.45, we loaded all the gear aboard and off we went heading for the reef slightly further north than yesterday. As before we stopped just before the reef to try for some mackerel, it was action straight away with 2 spanish mackerel falling to me then a cuda for Billy, paying out line for the next run Billy hit another cuda, I started winding my lure out of the way and got hit as well, a double hook up.

we moved on to deeper water on the outside of the reef after that first action and Billy soon had a nice grouper, we switched to deep diving lures and had a succesion of different types of grouper for a couple of hours then everything died off.

We headed for a shallow bar on the reef for lunch and tried flappers on the way after a big cuda, I hit one as soon as the troll started but not the monster we hoped for, after that we got the canopy up and dropped anchor for lunch.

After lunch we set off trolling again me on a shallow diver, Billy on a flapper still, five minutes later i was in again this time a mutton snapper, time for Billy to change over to a lure again.

It went very quiet then for a while all we managed was a couple of cuda then we had one last try on the way in where i managed a couple of lizard fish and a bonito (bait for tomorrow night off the dock)

Another great day red hot again and its supposed to be a cold front arrived here today with northerly winds, I just wish summer back home was as nice as cold fronts are here.

will report again in 2 days after we have a go for rays and nurse shark off the dock.

By the way we saw 4 loggerhead turtles today as well, great big things, I never got the camera out in time to get a pic but I think billy might of got 1 .
