Trip to Cuba Cayo Guillermo

not written anything for a while so heres the next trip in the planning, this year the mrs decided she was going to come with me a new venue was needed with some ameneties for her and good fishing for me, luckily or unluckily i broke my ankle in December 09 so had planty of time to trawl the internet looking for a suitable destination, we finally settled on Cayo Guillermo in Cuba, great shore fishing from the beaches flats rocks bridges or rocks and all inclusive hotels to keep the mrs happy while i'm out boat fishing (she can't cope all day on a boat but will be fishing the pier and beach with me). we have booked 2 weeks there from september 16th 2010.

After checking through all the fishing reports and guides i have managed to book 5 days out boat fishing as well. Judging by all the reports the tackle needs to be a lot heavier than other overseas venues i have fished, the spinning gear i have will do for catching bait and the fly rods will still be fine for bonefish and tarpon but live baiting gear from the melia peir or pillar rocks needed to be heavier and also i needed new gear for the speed jigging, i settled for fin-nor offshore reels and rods and hopefully these will be up for the job, they will be fished with 65lb and 100lb braid on the boat or 25lb to 30lb for rocks and pier.

i will update in a moth or so when i have tried out the rods deep sea wrecking out from whitby.
